I love starting a new month.
There is something magical about turning the pages of a new calendar and getting to start again. New days ahead full of excitement and adventure and whatever one can imagine.
The truth is that each day is a chance to begin again.
August is an odd month. In my part of the country, school for both primary and college begins. It is both a ending of summer and the beginning of a school year. Typically, no one is ever ready for either the ending or beginning. We always seem to want just a little more time.
August is the transition to the fall months of football and pumpkins, cool nights and softer weather. The summer girl in me desires to hold on to the next 31 days a little tighter but then I realize it is important to hold on to each of the days.
We have set a few goals in our house for August.
A return to clean eatting (a birthday allowed for some not so clean eatting).
Increased workouts (at least 4 times per week).
Time to reestablish goals in regards to professional and personal issues.
Most significantly, I hope to take time to enjoy the days ahead. There is something magical about not having to rush around like the rest of the world. As I no longer teach on the adjunct level, I am not bound by a school schedule. My days and weeks are what I want to make them.
Today I encourage you to take time to think about the month ahead.
You have been blessed with the promise of new days and you have the power to make them what you want.
What are you hopes for the month ahead?
Here’s to a great August!!
